The Famous CWS (Manchester) Band – Scena Sinfonica
Late 1940s – mid 50s The early Years. The change of name from Tobacco Factory Band at the end of the 1940s and the arrival of new principal cornet player Derek Garside signalled the Rise in stature of this works band. They achieved, in a short time many accolades both at home and abroad hence their later title adding the word FAMOUS. These early recordings are from the late 1940s to the mid 1950s and include The Falcons, Die Felsenmuhle, The Nightingale’ Scena Sinfonica, Two Imps (duo for Xylophones), Spirit of Pageantry, and two private recordings from contest performances in 1962 & 1963 The Force of Destiny and Belmont Variations –16 Tracks restored and edited.
